A new brewery is under construction in downtown High Point, where food and entertainment options are quickly increasing. Paddled South Brewing Co. will be located at 602 N. Main St. in downtown High Point. Owners Dave Nissen and Patrick Watterson expect their leased 3,700-square-foot establishment to be ready in January. They envision a comfortable atmosphere with a variety of seating — inside and outside — with sports on TV and at least occasional live music. They said they decided against the industrial-type feel many breweries have chosen in recent years. They plan to focus on on-site sales, but said they could do some local distribution.
